Saint Peter, originally known as Simon, is recognized as the first Pope and a foundational figure of the Church. He was a fisherman by trade and was called by Jesus to be a disciple. Saint Paul, formerly known as Saul of Tarsus, was a fierce persecutor of Christians until his dramatic conversion on the road to Damascus. Together, these Apostles transformed the early Christian community, spreading the Gospel and enduring great persecution for the faith. They worked tirelessly, with Saint Peter leading the Church in Jerusalem and Saint Paul traveling extensively to share the message of Christ.
